Fun With Song and Water

We attended the Kidlet's Spring Sing last week. She sang some very cute songs about animals. They needed a bit more practice though...it seemed that none of the kids actually knew the last song. Still, they did a wonderful job and we had a great time!

The other day MP3 discovered.....THE SPRINKLER!! He had so much fun chasing it around and sticking his hands in the water!

What he really enjoyed doing was running up to the spray, turning his back to the sprinkler, and ducking his shoulder into the water. Then...he decided to stand in front of it as it spun past him...he didn't like that so much. Here's a view of his back. Notice the wet right shoulder and if you look you can see that the front of his pants are completely soaked.

MP3 recently (as in last month) figured out how to sit down on objects (i.e. the dog, the cat, Daddy while he's trying to do sit-ups or push-ups, his sister's ribcage while she's on the floor, etc.) and his new favorite spot to be when outside is the front steps. Granted, he often tries to sit down while facing the steps, but his sister does an excellent job of catching him and turning him around.
The Kidlet and MP3 spent a lot of time playing ball. Not with each other, though at the same time.

More Critters?

We have an opossum that keeps reappearing in our garage, at least 2 raccoons (and 1 gigantic one) that wander about, a super-massive skunk that lives nearby, when we moved in there was a litter of kittens in the juniper in the backyard, and now....

We find ourselves unable to use our front door. Luckily, it looks like they're almost full grown!

A Wee Bit of Confusion

There seems to be some confusion in this house. It all started about a year ago. MP3 use to take his baths in this extremely cool baby bath tub which fit in (or on) the kitchen sink and the Kidlet loved to help. Some days she would say, "Watch out, Mama! He has to pee!" on other days she'd say, "Good thing he doesn't have to pee tonight!" Now, I thought that this was odd, but no big deal. I will admit that it was funny that time that he peed and it landed in a cup. Then one day...she pointed at MP3's scrotum and practically yelled, "Be careful! He's really full! He's gonna pee soon!" and I just about died. I managed to keep the laughter contained and wondered how to explain testicles to a 6 year old. I quickly decided that her observation and reasoning was so interesting (where do kids come up with this stuff?) that it didn't need me ruining it (that and does a 6 year old need any other explanation?). The Kidlet isn't the only creative one around here...
MP3 keeps expanding his vocabulary. One of his favorite words is "dah-tah" or "button". Trust me, when you hear him say it you know exactly what he's saying. He loves buttons! Every button he finds causes him to beam and say loudly "Dah-tah?" (I have no idea why he sounds like it's a question, but that's the way he always says it). Funny thing though, when you ask him to find his belly button he inevitably finds something a bit further south. Granted, it is more button-ish than a belly button... Diaper changing time keeps becoming increasingly difficult around here.

Spring has Sprung!

She's trying to grow out her bangs. Really. We are not neglecting
our first born.

Won't You Be My Neighbor?

Here's a glimpse of our new neighbor. I sure hope he's friendly!

Well, not too friendly...

Just to let you know: that's a full grown maple tree he's sitting in. Fun...

Attack of the Killer Swingset

She's smiling because I told her that next time she wants to stop the swing she should try using her feet...

She actually had to brush her teeth to get the dirt out of her mouth (it was packed around her teeth). Luckily no lasting damage was done...she ended up with a small red "dirtburn" next to her eye for a day or so, and that was all.

If she finds out that I've posted this picture......well, let's not think about that.
